Basketball on the Wii
Well I don't know if anyone even checks this blog anymore, but I thought I would put up a picture. We few weeks ago we had our family reunion in Boise. It was so fun to get everyone together and we all had a blast at Thomas's place. We had the wii hooked up and convinced dad to try it. I'm sure he only did it because it was basketball, but that counts. He did pretty good after we figured out how to change the setting to a lefty. Anyway, dad is doing pretty good. Just trying to get his immune system back where it needs to be.

Nothing that shooting a few hoops won't fix!!
Each day a little better!!
Sorry for not keeping this up. I thought that since they were home not many people would still be checking. But apparently they do. Dad is doing better each day. He has much more color and his hair is coming back. He has had a rough couple of months with different infections. But he is hanging in there. This week he is running tests so that he can go back to Utah for his 100 day checkup. If all the tests go well. they will release him and he won't have to be as careful and be able to go back to work. This is something that Dad has been really waiting for. As all of you know, he is not one to sit still.
We all have our trials and hard times and it is what we learn and take from those experiences that counts right? Having to watch my parents go through the last year, has changed my life. I will always be grateful for every minute I have with not only my dad, but with my family. All the crazy, hard days that you have as a mom I will gladly take. My testimony has grown so much from seeing the unwavering faith of my Dad through all the horrible days he has had to go through. If he can make it through all that and still have such faith. How small are my trials and hard times. So thank you Dad for helping me through this last year. What an example you are.

They are on their way home!!!
After a few days delay, they are on their way home. I just got a text from Scott and he said all went well at the doctors appointment and his platelets were at 56. They took his port out and sent him on his way. I was glad it went well because I think dad was coming home no matter what they said. I am so happy to have them home and alittle closer so we can help them out more. It has been a long road for dad and mom both. I am glad that they are on the downhill part of it. See you soon dad.

False Alarm
False alarm. We were all so excited that Dad was coming home, but his numbers weren't quite high enough. They have another appointment towards the end of the week. On a positive note, family and friends put a lot of time and effort in getting mom & dad's house all sanitized for them to come home. The house is all ready for them and we are all so excited to be one more step through this process. We are so proud of mom and dad. We love you and are sending our thoughts and prayers your way. Keep it up. penny

They are coming home!!!
We are so excitted mom and dad are planning on coming home on Tuesday. Dad's platelets are continuing to come up and they said if on Monday at his appointment if they are at 50 they would take his port out. So hopefully if all goes well he can get his port out Monday and they will come home on Tuesday. We are so excitted to finally have them home. He still has a long way to go but to have them close where most of us will be able to help them out a little more will be nice. It has been a long couple of months for both of them and I am glad they will be able to come home. Hopefully get things back to normal soon.

My Dad is THE MAN
As Kristy posted before, my dad is no longer in the hospital. I just have to tell you how glad I am that I was able to fly home for Grandma's funeral and to be able to see dad again. When I left the hospital, dad was sitting up in bed anxious to leave, but before that I just have to tell everyone how good dad looked compared to two days before that. He was up talking and joking around. Just so you have an idea of what he has been through . . . Dad said, "They try to prepare you for what it will be like, but it wasn't even close. I don't think I would ever do that again. I was dry-heaving so bad I could see my rear end come up through my teeth." Doesn't that just sound like a healthy dad. He still has a tough road ahead, but I am just so proud of my dad. He has been so strong through the whole thing. I also have to say this about mom . . . Mom you are truly amazing. You have not left dad's side and I know he would not have made it through without you. I love you both so much and we are all so blessed to have you as our parents. Love, Shellie (Oh and if anyone comes across a red suitcase and a car seat with my name on it let me know. Yep, my luggage has been lost by the airlines and it could be anywhere by now.)
Just for you mom!

If it was physically possible..........
........ I would be doing back flips. I just got off the phone with mom, and her and dad are all checked in to a new motel. They let dad out of the hospital today. We are all so excited and have waited along time to hear this news. I am so glad. Mom and dad both will be able to sleep better. They go into the doctor on Tuesday and they will see about how long they have to stay close to the hospital. They said normally a week to 10 days. We can't wait to have them home. I am so glad to say that I think the worst is behind them. Dad still has a lot of work ahead of him but he can make it just like he does everything in his life. "Work hard and never give up until the job is done." That is how he has lived his whole life and I know this won't be any different. Dad and mom I am so happy for you both. Keep up the good work. Love you both.
